"THE TEDDY BEARS ANONYMOUS"
(or otherwise known as TBA Club)

About seven years ago, Patti Cavenett started a Wednesday meeting of the "Teddy Bears Anonymous" Club at the Bermuda Street Studio of Kympatti Bears. The idea was to foster and increase the interest in Teddy Bear making on the Gold Coast, by way of informal workshops with a social club atmosphere.
The concept proved to be an outstanding success, and many of the Teddy Bear folk from those origional meetings still

attend every Wednesday. These no-pressure workshops among friends, has created some great friendships, not only among the participants, but with all at Kympatti.
Teddy making is naturally the common thread among the Wednesday meetings, though the terrific Social interaction has proved to be an added bonus, and it is certainly considered to be a form of therapy equivilent to that of a couple of hours on the Therapist's couch.
These "Teddy Bear Anonymous" meetings each Wednesday generally start around 9.00 am and conclude between 1.00pm or 2.00pm.
The Teddy making covers all aspects of the craft, from beginners to the more advanced. Ideas and skills are willingly shared around the work table and the Kympatti chapter of "Teddy Bears Anonymous" have several members who have gone from first-time Bear makers to "Bear-of-the-Show" winners in open National competition.
These Teddy Bear Wednesdays are above all a fun event, and the Kympatti Studio is an open house with a welcome out to all Bear makers, whether local or visiting from Interstate or Overseas. It is not unusual to have a visiting Interstater, or a New Zealander Teddy enthusiast (Teddy making Kit in hand) arrive at the Studio and to stay for the morning.
The turnout each Wednesday varies in number, from a half dozen Bear Folk to fourteen or more - Our only limit.

As we approach the month of MAY, this is a great opportunity to remind you that the count down to "THE GOLD COAST INTERNATIONAL TEDDY, DOLL, BEAD, CRAFT & COLLECTIBLE FAIR" On June 8th is quickly drawing closer. We want to remind you that this year we have a new format with ONE DAY TRADING on the Sunday 9.30am till 5.00pm.
A special invitation is extended to all of you who would like to "MEET & GREET" the Artists at a cocktail reception on Saturday evening between 5.00pm and 8.00pm. Why not catch up with some old friends and perhaps introduce yourself to some new friends in this relaxed atmosphere.

Bookings are essential and tickets are available from Kympatti Bears at a cost of only $20.00 each.

We have an exciting WORKSHOP PROGRAM for Friday 6th June and the week following the fair. Our Artists include Geri Williams, Linda Benson, Sandra Kay  Murphy, and Silvia Durrer. WORKSHOP INFORMATION is available from Kympatti Bears or by downloading on the website. There are a limited number of spaces left so please book soon to avoid disappointment.
